COSAL Luncheon Insights: Econometrics Primer for Young Lawyers

Join COSAL's Young Lawyers Division for a practical primer on statistics, antitrust damages, and economic regressions. Our featured speaker is Evan Starr, Professor of Management & Organization at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Professor Starr holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan and studies issues at the intersection of employee mobility, innovation, and firm behavior. His recent work examines noncompete agreements, training, earnings, and entrepreneurship using large-scale employer-employee data, and he is also the plaintiffs’ quantitative econometrics expert in the Med Center no-poach antitrust class action litigation.

This event is scheduled for 12:00 pm PT/3:00 pm EST.

Econometrics and damages experts play a central role in modern antitrust litigation — but many of us didn’t come up through a rigorous math or economics background. If you’ve ever wished for a clear, practical introduction to how economic analysis actually works in real cases, this session is for you.

Dr. Starr will provide lawyer-friendly primer on the fundamentals of econometrics, damages models, and economic regressions — what they are, how they’re used, and how to better understand, and challenge expert analysis.

Whether you’re new to antitrust or just want to sharpen your understanding of expert economics, this session will give you a strong foundation you can use immediately in practice.

Bring your lunch. Build your expertise. Ask better questions of experts.
