COSAL Joins Coalition Opposing NCAA Antitrust Exemption in SCORE Act

COSAL joined a broad coalition of civil rights, athlete advocacy, labor, education, competition, and public interest organizations in opposing the Student Compensation and Opportunity through Rights and Endorsements (SCORE) Act.

In a joint letter, the organizations expressed deep concern that the legislation’s sweeping antitrust exemption for the NCAA would cement significant market advantages and legal protections for institutions and conferences at the expense of college athletes. The coalition warned that the SCORE Act would weaken accountability and undermine the rights and economic opportunities of student-athletes.
